FENIX, the innovative laminate from Arpa Industriale resists abrasion, dry heat, acid-based solvents, household reagents, and staining from food and heals itself from micro scratches.

We all agree that laminate countertops are the worst, right? Well, it might be time to rethink that notion. Ushering in a new generation of smart materials, FENIX packs cutting-edge function behind its luxuriously hued matte surface. FENIX, the innovative materials from Arpa Industriale, have revolutionised the world of interior design. Applying proprietary technologies, FENIX materials were developed by an international multidisciplinary team of 15 researchers. Innovation and sustainability are two core values for the whole Group, whose objective is to foresee and create cutting-edge aesthetic and technical solutions designed with sustainability in mind.

These values are perfectly summed up in FENIX materials: the more natural core, thanks to the use of lignin(lignin is a class of complex organic polymers that form key structural materials in the support tissues of most plants.) in the formulation of thermosetting resins, represents not only a more sustainable choice but at the same time a significant technical innovation. This is possible thanks to the Group’s constant investment in research and development. They are not only beautiful to look at but, most importantly, they are also a high-tech material, made unique by their characteristics.

Over time, laminate countertops can suffer from delamination, especially from water damage. It is difficult to repair delamination and in most cases, you will need to replace the entire countertop. Source

With remarkable durability, FENIX stands up to a variety of interior irritants, making it a practical choice for a wide range of residential and commercial applications. FENIX capably resists abrasion, dry heat, acid-based solvents, household reagents, and staining from food. FENIX is also self-repairing, with thermal healing properties for superficial scratches(and if you manage to scratch, ding, or knick it in any way, imperfections can literally be ironed out.)In addition to being well-suited for horizontal and vertical applications, FENIX can be used on curved surfaces, with the ability to be bent to a radius of six-inch.

FENIX can be defined as a paper multilayer impregnated internally with thermosetting resins and processed with nanoparticles, then treated externally with acrylic resins that are hardened and polymerised through an innovative electron beam process. With low light reflectivity, their surface is extremely opaque, soft touch and anti-fingerprint.

FENIX surfaces have a unique non-porous external layer, allowing the material to stay neat with simple, everyday care and cleaning methods. The result of four years of research and developed by an international, multidisciplinary team thanks to proprietary technologies, FENIX NTM® was the very first product on the market capable of satisfying the needs of two interior design trends: the search for intelligent materials and a taste for opaque surfaces.

This was followed by FENIX NTA®, its empowered metallic surface features the same characteristics as FENIX NTM®. Hence, it is extremely matte with visual comfort and a very pleasant soft touch, as well as anti-fingerprint. Thermal healing of superficial micro-scratches is also possible. Among its pluses, FENIX NTA is easy to work with standard carpenters tools, such as regular cutting, milling, polishing and drilling tools; it is also customisable with laser engraving techniques and CNC machining.

To create Fenix, the product undergoes a particular series of processes, including a multilayer coating and the use of next-generation acrylic resins. Source

Ideal for furniture such as tables, bookcases, chairs, partition walls, and to decorate any room you like. In the bathroom, in the kitchen, in living areas, as a work surface material, for covering units, doors and walls, or for backsplashes. But also outside the home: in offices, on transportation, in public places, and the hospitality and healthcare fields.

The FENIX surface characteristics create a high-performance material, which is a suitable alternative to other materials, such as solid surfaces, lacquered and metal or glass, with the added advantage of the ease of use. A new system concept consolidates the role of FENIX as an ingredient brand aimed at offering aesthetic solutions and simplifications for the interiors, with the result to engage customers as true partners in exploiting the value-creation opportunities offered by innovative ‘ingredients’, as well as in the launching of newly co-developed projects.

This system is called “FENIX INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS. Kitchen Sinks”, a collection of sinks designed to be integrated with kitchen worktops made of FENIX NTM. Products are made from acrylic resin with an extremely matt finish, allowing for a perfect integration between the FENIX NTM worktop and the sink in kitchen designs.

FENIX® is distributed in over 70 countries and has obtained numerous awards and recognitions. In India, it is available by the FORMICA group through dealers and offices nationwide, and through online shopping, stores being priced at Rs 350/sqft onwards. The lifespan of the surface will depend on its usage conditions. The installation should be conducted in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines. However, with proper treatment, this material can last well over 50 years.

More than just a luxury to look at, Fenix is made of high-tech material. Created using nano-technology, Fenix is offering unique characteristics and solutions not found on any other surface on the market today. Source
